Pet Therapy Dog Lilly Brings Joy to The Old Vicarage Care Home Residents

The Old Vicarage Care Home recently welcomed a new furry friend, Lilly, who came to visit as part of the Pets as Therapy program. This wonderful initiative aims to improve the lives of people, particularly those in care homes, through interaction with trained therapy dogs like Lilly. We were delighted to have Lilly visit our elderly care home in Kettering and it was a memorable experience for all involved.

Lilly is a beautiful and friendly Golden Retriever, and she came to the care home accompanied by her owner and handler, Lynette, who is a volunteer for the Pets as Therapy program. From the moment Lilly entered the home, she brought joy and excitement to our residents, who were thrilled to meet her.

Lilly’s visit was an interactive and engaging experience, and the residents loved spending time with her. They stroked her soft fur, played with her toys, and even gave her some treats. Lilly was the perfect companion, and she was gentle, patient, and affectionate throughout her visit.

Pest as Therapy is designed to improve the wellbeing of people by providing a friendly and calming presence for those who may benefit from it. The therapy dogs have a positive impact on the emotional, social, and physical health of residents, and their visits have been known to help reduce stress and anxiety, lower blood pressure, and improve overall mood.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Lynette for bringing Lilly to The Old Vicarage Care Home. Her kindness and generosity have made a real difference to our residents, and we hope that Lilly will visit us again soon. We are also grateful to Pets as Therapy for their ongoing support and for their dedication to improving the lives of people through animal-assisted therapy.
